On Saturday, March 31st, I attended our first training through Hope for Kids Inc. here in State College. Hope For Kids is dedicated to serving the most disadvantaged infants, children, and adolescents by providing specialized foster care and adoption services from a Christian worldview. We are building a portfolio according to their directions, but will wait to finalize it until we know which state at least we will be living in for the forseeable future.
It was a day of mixed emotions, hearing about the amazing need and hurt in the world today, especially in such a young, vulnerable population. It was beautful, however, to hear experiences from other parents and the social workers about the children who find their place in a loving family.
Please pray for us as we work our way through the very, VERY large training binder full of various topics we are likely to encounter in the adoption process, and challenges that the majority of children who are adopted face. We see the value and necessity of training of course, but it is difficult not to be overwhelmed by the amount of difficult information. Please also pray with us for our future children specifically, and for all children from broken homes that they would not lose hope- hope that someone sees them, knows them, loves them. That was one of the biggest themes that I heard throughout the training that in my unprofessional opinion is a big factor leading to a lot of negative behaviors.
On with the journey!
